FOUNDER
Eve Crossley
'During my degree, I spent three years tutoring GCSE and A-level science students of all abilities.
Through this experience, I realised how expensive private tutoring can be, with many parents paying up to £40 per hour. It made me aware of how inaccessible additional education outside of school has become, and how students from families with fewer financial resources are placed at a disadvantage from rising tutoring fees.
After graduating, I decided to create Skill Surge to help reduce this gap by giving more students access to the extra educational support that all children deserve.'
Skill Surge unique features
Play/pause structure-
Everyone learns at their own pace therefore using a play/pause structure allows for students to study at a rate which is best for them.
Tutor chat box-
Students can access a chat box at any time during their lesson or throughout their subscription, enabling direct communication with a tutor who has a degree-level education. Whether they have questions about the lesson or the subject in general, they can get fast answers—just like having an in-person tutor, but available every day!
Interactive lessons-
Skill surge lessons have tasks integrated within them in order to help students process and understand content without losing their attention.
Affordable prices-
With tutoring prices soaring, it is not accessible to everyone. Our low tutoring prices means everyone can get the extra help they need to succeed in their exams. On average each of our lessons cost £3.50
Lesson structures
Skill Surge provides pre-recorded tutoring videos with a built-in chat box, so students can ask questions and get quick answers-just like having a real tutor, but more convenient and affordable. Each lesson is designed to be interactive, keeping students engaged while covering essential exam content.
Every lesson contains a starter task before any content is covered just to give the student a rough idea on what they already know and what they need to focus on.
LESSON TASKS
During each lesson the students will be asked to pause the video and complete a task. There's a range of different tasks, some examples are: filling in missing words and matching pictures to descriptions.
STARTER
At the end of each lesson there will be exam style questions for the students to complete to help consolidate their learning.
